Jun Fan Gung-Fu

Jun Fan Gung-Fu is a martial art developed by Bruce Lee. Based on principles of western boxing, Wing Chun, Fencing, and a combination of 26 various fighting styles, Jun Fan Gung-Fu is not ‘eclectic’, not MMA, not a ‘hybrid’. Rather this martial art of Bruce Lee is about studying various disciplines while applying their nuances and bringing a part of our inner selves to the Art. Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is the personal philosophy, essentially, for living, of Sigung Bruce Lee. Everyone’s JKD is different, yet interdependent. That is what sets JKD apart from other styles. The absence of Style is the most subtle nuance one will first encounter.

Filipino Martial Arts

“In the world of weapons the Filipinos developed an amazing way of cheating. Instead of blocking strikes, they would actually smash the opponents weapon hand. By way of analogy, this method was called ‘defanging the snake',' imagining that the opponent were a snake and the weapon was the fang. While the rest of the world would go toe-to-toe in weapons fighting, blocking strikes and trading blows, the Filipinos would simply and directly smash the hand.” Paul Vunak, Martial Arts Bible at p 15

At Southern Oregon PFS we honor the whispered lineage of the Filipino arts as passed down from Dan Inosanto and Larry Hartsell. Our school focus is on the fighting system of Antonio Illistrisimo and particularly the LAMECO style developed as one of the five families of Illistrisimo Kali. LAMECO was developed by Edgar Silute and was a favored style of Larry Hartsell.

While Filipino Kali is sometimes seen as primarily weapon based, there are twelve areas of the art, of which weapons are only a part. The Filipino art of Panatukan (aka-’Dirty Boxing’) is the style of boxing we train in at the school

Wing Chun

Indirect, yielding while maintaining ability to possess control. Wing Chun is an Art developed by a woman, Ng Mui, and consequently utilizes the physical structure and thought processes of a woman.  Conversely, men are assertive and direct, especially in their development of other fighting systems, which is contrary to wing chun. Old in age, Wing Chun has a hidden or mystical element. The art was not taught to non Chinese. In fact it eschewed transient fads, ideals of fashion and most particularly western influence.

Book a Class

Each individual approaches learning in their own way. JKD did not come easy to me. My philosophy is to allow the student to progress at their own pace and find their own coherence which allows them to further pass along information. Here, we teach in a private and semi-private curriculum with a weekly class where we work on and discuss what is transpiring in our training and how our personal life affects our training. Private lessons are $50.00 per hour. Groups of two or more are $35.00 each per hour

Rapid Assualt Tactics R.A.T. training, 1-4 people $1200.00 each. 4 or more for $850.00 each.
